Brief Music History of Dance
A concert with songs and dances from the Middle Ages until the present by the "Duo Goliardi"…

Medieval saltarelli and Renaissance tarantellas coexist with Baroque dances, traditional songs from the Ionian Islands and Giannis Konstantinidis’ dances in the concert entitled Piccola storia della danza, by the Duo Goliardi, Dimitris Kountouras (flute) and Konstantinos Raptis (bayan accordion).
The Duo Goliardi presents a brief review of the history of dance from the Middle Ages until the present time. The duo will perform works by Guillaume de Machaut, Johann Sebastian Bach, John Constantinides, Béla Bartok and many anonymous composers.
The Duo Goliardi was founded in 2003 by flutist Dimitris Kountouras and accordionist Konstantinos Raptis. Its goal is to link the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque music with popular dance forms, highlighting common characteristics of the musical language, as well as the more or less obvious influence on the work of well-known artists of different periods.
The event has been organized in cooperation with the Greek Composers’ Union and the Hellenic American University.
