Comicdom Con Athens 2010
This year, the well-established comic festival Comicdom Con Athens becomes a three-day event featuring international guests, the exhibition “From the Yellow Kid to Conan”, workshops on the techniques of scriptwriting and sketching, film screenings, presentation of new Greek comic publications, a bazaar with comic-shops and publishing houses and Comicdom Awards (the only Greek comic book awards)and more...
Celebrating its 5th anniversary Comicdom Con Athens adds one more day to an already rich program, and invites the friends of the 9th Art for an up-close look at the magic world of printed pop culture.
In this year’s festival the exhibition From the Yellow Kid to Conan –organized in cooperation with the Ohio State University Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum- unravels the history of American comics. Also, special guests sign their work, sketch for the public, participate in panels and deliver workshops on scriptwriting and sketching: the veteran, superstar comic book artist John Romita Jr. and top writer Mike Carey, as well as the multitalented artist D’ Israeli and the contemporary master of dark comic stories, Kyle Hotz (invited by Jemma Press).
And after the success of last year’s seminar that used creative play to familiarize children with the comics, Comicdom Con Athens has included workshops for kids in preschool and elementary school in its program for 2010.
