Transference and Counter-transference in Contemporary Psychoanalysis
Symposium in collaboration with the Psychoanalytical Magazine “Oedipus” and Potamos Publications...
Transference and counter-transference refer to the way we experience the present as influenced by the past and also how we reshape the past through our view of the present. These terms are crucial to the psychoanalytical process and also play a significant role in the formation of how we perceive ourselves in any given moment. The symposium covers two sessions. The first deals with Strachey’s mutative interpretation in psychoanalysis and is of interest mainly to psychoanalysts. Speaking on the topic will be Yannis Vartzopoulos, Dimitris Jackson, and Athanasios Alexandrides.
The second session deals with the way transference and counter-transference appear in psychoanalytical psychotherapy for patients with cancer. Nikos Lamnidis, Savvas Savvopoulos, and Fotis Bobos will be speaking on the subject.
An open discussion will follow.
