Dimitris Laletas excelled in the art of portraiture, but his prolific talent was vested and tested in an array of other genres as well. He staged his first solo show at the Hellenic American Union in 1992. Twenty-one years later, more than 50 of his paintings have been assembled from various foundations and collectors to be included in this retrospective, which aims to present the full scope of the artist’s work.

Dimitris Laletas was born in Alexandroupoli in 1964. In 1990 he moved to Athens where he worked for “Odos Panos” Magazine and Publications for 20 years. He was the magazine’s and publications’ resident visual artist as well as the designer of their logo featuring demigod Pan. He was also a long-standing associate of the “Vivliothiki-Katafygio Thiramaton” (Game Library-Reserve) insert in the Saturday edition of Eleftherotypia newspaper between March 2009 and December 2011. Dimitris Laletas died in Alexandroupoli on March 31, 2011.

At the exhibition opening, actress Filareti Komninou will read out texts about Dimitris Laletas and Marilena Laskaridou will speak about the painter’s book collection which has been donated to the “Ekaterini Laskaridou Foundation” in Piraeus.
