Photographic Pairs 2014
The series of exhibitions in cooperation with the “Photography Circle” continues with the photo exhibition of Niki Gouzouasi and Tania Papadatou...
Each exhibition in series Photographic Pairs features the work of two photographers, both members of the “Photography Circle”, whose paths in life or photography cross. In some cases the featured photographers will be relatives or dear friends; or it may be that their subject matter or approach will be common. They may also be related by the substantial difference of a seemingly common work.
The new photographic pair are Niki Gouzouasi and Tania Papadatou. The two photographers are close personal friends regardless of their membership in the Circle. They not only exhibit their works together, but they also often travel together and shoot together. The exposition (and juxtaposition) of their work is extremely interesting. Niki Gouzouasi almost literally molds out a world where people, houses, shadows, and objects together compose a cubist self-existent piece of work, while Tania Papadatou uses the photographic format to locate and focus her attention on the people that are included in her shots. Thus, each of them offers an extremely personal version of the same world seen through and transformed by their lens.
Platon Rivellis, photo critic and founder of the "Photography Circle", is curator of the exhibition series.
