Urbanism of Negotiation
An exhibition of architectural projects, in cooperation with Hellenic American College (HAEC) and the School of Architecture, Landscape and Visual Arts, of the University of Western Australia (UWA)…
In the exhibition entitled “Urbanism of Negotiation: Athens in crisis (Studio 2012-13) – Future Athens (Studio 2013-14)”, students who participated in the study abroad program Athens Studio 2013 and 2014 reconstruct a different awareness of the city.
The topic of Studio 2012-13 was a part “of the city within the city of Athens” and students focused on the Athenian district Gerani, studying it as a peculiar Free Zone with its own Bill of Rights for its citizens. The topic of Studio 2013-14 was “Future Athens (2013-2033),” a Utopia for the year 2033, which marks the 200th anniversary of the proclamation of Athens as the capital of Greece. The results of these studies and the respective projects will be presented in the exhibition curated by the architect Kalliope Kontozoglou, Adjunct Professor of Architecture at the University of Western Australia.
