For the last event of the fourth season of the monthly poetic encounters “Words (can) do it”, the Hellenic American Union presents the translator and poet Demetra H. Hristodoulou who, along with Eleni I. Karabela, will introduce us to ancient Greek poetry and will read the original, as well as the translated, poems.
Demetra H. Hristodoulou’s first poetry collection Myrovlitos' horses was published in 1974. In 2008, she was awarded the National Poetry Award for her book, Famine. Her translations of ancient Greek poets were published in 2010 in the collection entitled More musical than music.
The classical philologist Eleni I. Karabela is a professor at the University of Patras. Her book entitled Dark light. A dramatological approach to Euripides' Herakles, was published in 2003.
