HAU students learn about Robin Williams
Adult students of the English Language Program attended the lecture - tribute to Robin Williams.
The adult students of the English Language Program “seized the day” and attended the lecture - tribute to Robin Williams, in English, by Andrew Horton, Professor of Film and Media at the University of Oklahoma, in cooperation with Hellenic American College.
Renowned American actor Robin Williams won worldwide admiration thanks to his frenetic energy, spontaneous improvisations, capacity for mime, and mainly thanks to the image that he conveyed through his work, namely that of the big child who disrupts the conservative world of adults with his spontaneity. Who does not remember three of his most memorable film lines: "Seize the day", "O Captain! My Captain!" and "Gooood morning, Vietnam"?
Award-winning screenwriter and Professor Andrew Horton shared his thoughts and showed scenes from films that highlight the multifaceted talent of Robin Williams and his ability to add drama to comedy roles. Moreover, Andrew Horton offered his own “Greek” perspective regarding the comedic talent of Robin Williams by stressing common characteristics of Robin Williams, Thanasis Vengos, and Karagiozis.
