A group of EcoFans Club members participated in the children’s Marathon and in the events following the race at the archaeological site of the temple. The children had a great deal of fun but also the opportunity to appreciate the true value of participating in a common effort where there are only winners. At the end of the symbolic race all children were given victory wreaths as a symbol of the athletic events in Ancient Greece.
The EcoFans Club had visited the archaeological site of the temple of Artemis Agrotera once before when members helped clean up the banks of the Ilisos River. The Hellenic American Union environmental group is engaged in a number of efforts to preserve the sites and monuments of historical importance and protect the natural setting they are found in.
