Registering for Cambridge English examinations

Registration for Cambridge English examinations can be done online, by post, or in person at our offices in Athens and Thessaloniki.


Language School Owners/English language teachers

Online Registration

To register your students for Cambridge English examinations, you can submit the applications and examination fees online through the ORFEAS system. Registering candidates through the ORFEAS Online Registration System is straightforward and requires only a few simple steps. At the same time, using ORFEAS to register your candidates also allows you to:

  • check at any particular time the status of your candidates’ applications
  • securely pay for the examination fees using your credit card
  • select your students’ examination building
  • change or correct personal information on your students’ applications
  • change or correct information about your school (e.g. address, telephone numbers)
  • find out the examination schedules of your students
  • receive e-mail announcements on when exam results will be available
  • have access to and print overall and individual examination results for all examinations
  • have access to preparation material

All you need is to log in the School Code and Password you have been given by the Hellenic American Union Center for Examinations and Certifications.

Registering by Post

You can submit your students’ applications by post, observing the procedures and deadlines set by the Hellenic American Union Center for Examinations and Certifications.

Note: Mandatory test day photos for CAE and CPE examinations

All candidates taking the CAE and CPE examinations will have their photo taken on the day of the exam. This further increases the security of the tests and will help organizations such as universities, employers and immigration authorities to confirm results quickly and easily.

Registering in Person

You also submit your students’ applications in person, at the offices of the Hellenic American Union in Athens and Thessaloniki, on weekdays, from 09:00 to 20:00.

Individual candidates

Online Registration

You can register for Cambridge English examinations using ORFEAS for Individual Candidates and charging your credit card. Registering through the ORFEAS Online Registration System is straightforward and requires a series of only a few simple steps. At the same time, registration through ORFEAS allows you to:

  • check at any particular time the status of your application
  • securely pay for the examination fees using your credit card
  • select your examination's building
  • check your examination schedule
  • have access to and print your examination results

To use the online registration system ORFEAS for Individual Candidates, you will need to have a valid e-mail address.

Registering by Post

You can also submit your application by post, observing the procedures and deadlines set by the Hellenic American Union Center for Examinations and Certifications.

Nonstandard test accommodations

Cambridge English provides a Special Arrangements service for candidates, for example those with learning difficulties, hearing difficulties and visual difficulties.

Types of Accommodations or Modifications

  • extended testing time
  • additional rest breaks
  • reader
  • scribe
  • recorder to mark answers
  • headphones
  • alternate test formats, e.g., Braille, enlarged print
  • alternate response formats, e.g., computer for writing section
  • wheelchair access

Documentation

  • Documentation should be no more than two years old and must be issued by a licensed or certified public-sector professional who is qualified to evaluate the examinee's disability.
  • All documentation in a language other than English must be translated into English.
  • The translation should be certified by an authorized professional or authority such as a lawyer of the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs Translation Service.
  • Either the original certified translation or a certified copy of the original certified translation can be submitted.
  • All documentation should be submitted to the Hellenic American Union Center for Examinations and Certifications at least four weeks before the date of the test date.

Submission of Requests

  • To make a request for Nonstandard Test Accommodation, interested candidates should complete the Nonstandard Test Accommodation Request Form and submit it to the Hellenic American Union Center for Examinations and Certifications with all relevant documentation.
  • All materials should be submitted at least four weeks before the date of the test date.

Denial/modification of Requests

Requests for accommodation may be denied or modified, or test results may be invalidated if:

  • The documentation is submitted at the time of the examination or after the examination
  • The documentation is not from a qualified professional
  • The disability is not clearly described and does not clearly define the extent of the disability (“poor eyesight” or “psychological difficulties” is too vague)
  • The documentation is outdated and does not describe the examinee’s current functioning
  • The disability does not affect the examinee’s test performance
  • There is disagreement between the individual requesting accommodation and Cambridge English regarding the type of accommodation requested (e.g., amount of time by which test can be extended or mode of presentation)
