The Hellenic American College Department of English Language & Literature, in cooperation with Hellenic American University (Manchester, New Hampshire, USA), is organizing an open discussion on the lyrical essay.
The lyrical essay has become the genre of currency in multiple disciplines – from news reportage to the personal essay. Join Amalia Melis, Maria Kostaki, and Adrianne Kalfopoulou, three practitioners of the form for a discussion on the various methods and applications of this versatile genre: what kinds of subjects inspire creative nonfiction? What is the market for the lyrical essay, and essay writing in general? How do the tropes and methods of the essay inform other kinds of writing?
The event will take place on September 26th, 2013, at 18:00, and will be held at the Hellenic American College Library. Admission is free of charge.
