Hellenic American Union's department for Translation Studies offers the most complete program in Translation and Interpretation in Greece. Having recognized the need for highly specialized and skillful professional translators, Hellenic American Union offers courses that fuse theory with practice training professionals who can be employed in translation agencies, institutions, multinational companies and publishing houses in Greece and abroad.
Two-Year Program in General Professional Translation
If you are considering a career in translation, the Two-Year Program in General Professional Translation offered by the Hellenic American Education Center will provide you with the necessary skills to become a professional translator and acquire internationally recognized certifications. The two-year program in Translation Studies bridges translator training and the translation industry. The program aims to prepare students for a career in translation and trains them in general and specialized translation. Students translate general and specialized texts from English into Greek and gain the methodological knowledge necessary for acting as linguistic and cultural mediators.
Although the program focuses on practical aspects of translation yet it also provides students with sound theoretical backing that allows students to perform informed and critical decision-making while translating. The program also introduces students to the uses of technology for translation and remains informed of all technological developments in the industry. All classes are interactive, build on student-instructor interaction and capitalize on peer knowledge sharing and views exchanging. Students gradually understand how translators mediate between texts, cultures and societies and better grasp the position of translation in the Greek professional milieu.
