- What’s the role of cultural heritage in contemporary societies?
- How does arts management contribute to the need for growth, creativity, meaningful communication, social solidarity and inclusion?
- How can we, as museums' professionals, apply critical thinking to cultural organizations and try to make a difference?
The course’s six units focus on cultural heritage and its legal framework, museum and event management, development of communication strategies and audience enlargement. Coordinated by Alexandra Nikiforidou, the seminar introduces the participants to innovative ideas as well as to the day to day work of cultural professionals, presents case studies and best practices from the international museum community and encourages the exchange of opinions.
→ Seminar Duration: October 14 – December 14 (2 months)
→ Fully ONLINE: Participate in the seminar from wherever you are! You just need a computer connected to the internet.
→ Flexible: No class attendance. Instead you can arrange your time for participating online in a way that is most convenient for you.
→ Reliable: Certificate of attendance on the condition of completing at least 70% of the exercises.
→ Contemporary: The seminar is conducted though Blackboard e-learning platform. No need to install any additional software. You just need to know how to use the Internet and how to send and receive emails. A good command of English in order to fulfil the reading assignments is required.

The seminar is aimed at Social Sciences, Humanities, Economics and Schools of Fine Arts students and graduates who wish to become acquainted with Arts Management and Museology as well as to employees of cultural organizations, art managers and cultural events organizers who wish to update their knowledge and to broaden their skills.
The online seminar "Arts Management / Museology" is organized in cooperation with the Hellenic American College / Hellenic American University.It is offered by the Hellenic American Union, a recognized Center for Lifelong Learning (ΚεΔιΒιΜ2) that has been granted a license of operation by the National Organization for the Certification of Qualifications and Vocational Guidance (ΕΟΠΠΕΠ).
Alexandra Nikiforidou works as a museologist, and consultant in museums and similar cultural organisations. She has collaborated with the Foundation of the Hellenic World, the Museum of Greek Folk Art, etc. and most of the times she carries out museological studies and curates exhibitions. She has taught in other arts management / museology seminars and she is a member of the Editorial Board of the periodical Tetradia Mouseiologias (Museology Notebooks).
