Audience Research and Evaluation
Online Seminar
What can museums learn from a profile of their visitors? How can they approach this potential public? In what ways can they use these data to attract sponsors in the middle of a financial crisis?
The Hellenic American Union is offering the online seminar “Audience Research and Evaluation” for museums and other cultural institutions. The seminar explores concepts of visitor research and assessment, an essential tool that helps museums evaluate their effectiveness and the quality of their relationships with existing or potential visitors, as well as with institutions and businesses.
The course comprises five units:
- Communication and learning in the museum
- Visitor research and analysis
- Methodologies for conducting visitor studies
- In-the-field exercise
- Impact of visitor studies on the work of cultural institutions
The seminar is coordinated by Alexandra Nikiforidou. Alexandra Nikiforidou works as a museologist, and consultant in museums and similar cultural organisations. She has collaborated with the Foundation of the Hellenic World, the Museum of Greek Folk Art, etc. and most of the times she carries out museological studies and curates exhibitions. She has taught in other arts management / museology seminars and she is a member of the Editorial Board of the periodical Tetradia Mouseiologias (Museology Notebooks).
The seminar develops themes introduced in the preceding online seminar for Arts Management and Museology, but is also addressed to anyone interested in an introduction to communication studies and the study of cultural data.
No specialized knowledge of computers is required; however, candidates do need to know how to use the Internet and how to send and receive emails. Participants should have a good command of English in order to fulfil the reading requirements.
Registration will begin on February 16th, 2016.
