A year after the publication of the book "Emfylia Pathi – 23 Questions and Answers about the Civil War" by Stathis N. Kalyvas and Nikos Marantzidis, the Hellenic American Union, the Hellenic American College (HAEC) and Metaichmio Publications are organizing a panel discussion, open to the public, titled "The Civil War and Its Legacy."

The tensions, discord and resentment emanating from the Greek Civil War resonated with Greek society for many years. Today, we are finally in a position to rethink the civil strife in a more dispassionate and well-documented manner, and thus uncover its varied aspects and dimensions as they emerge from dozens of recent studies. After delving into the Greek Civil War for twenty years, Stathis Kalyvas and Nikos Marantzidis have attempted, in a succinct and forthright manner, to provide an overall interpretation of this complex and multi-faceted event that divided a people and destroyed a country, wounding collective memory and identity in the process.

The panel of speakers features: Nikos Alivizatos (Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Athens), Giannis Voulgaris (Professor in the Department of Political Science and History of Panteion University), Nikos Marantzidis (Political Scientist, Professor at the University of Macedonia, co-author of the book), Evanthis Chatzivasileiou (Professor of History at the University of Athens), and Christos Chomenidis (writer).

Panel moderator: Pavlos Papadopoulos (journalist - writer).
