International Children’s Book Day
Message to all the children of the world by author Pat Mora (USA), and bestowment of awards to institutions which promote the love for reading…

Every year, on April 2nd, Hans Christian Andersen's birthday, International Children's Book Day (ICBD) is celebrated to inspire a love for reading and to call attention to children's books. On this day, a different National Section of IBBY (International Board of Books for Young People) will be the international sponsor of Interanational Children’s Book Day. The role of the sponsor is to decide on a theme and invite a prominent author from the host country to write a message for all the children of the world, along with a well-known illustrator to design a poster. This year’s host country is the USA, and award winning author Pat Mora from Texas will write the message. The message will be translated in Greek by the honorary president of the Greek IBBY, Loty Petrovits-Andrutsopulou.
As part of the celebration, the Greek IBBY – Greek Children’s Book Circle will confer its annual awards to authors, illustrators, librarians, educators and institutions which promote a love for reading.
