Presentation of the new book by Thanos Veremis...

The Hellenic American Union in cooperation with the Hellenic American College (HAEC) and Metaichmio Publications present the book Doxa kai Adiexoda: Igetes tis Neoellinikis Istorias (Grandeur and Gridlocks: Leaders of Modern Greek History) on the occasion of its publication.
In this new book, Professor Emeritus of Political History at the University of Athens Thanos Veremis chooses to shed light on four periods of the history of modern Greece, which divided the Greeks and influenced social developments in the country. Among others, the book focuses on the two Civil Wars in the aftermath of the 1821 Revolution of Independence, the age of the National Schism (1915-1920) and aspects of the policies of the two main rivals, King Constantine I and Eleftherios Venizelos, the Metapolitefsi (post-junta era) and the policies of the two main leaders, Constantine Karamanlis and Andreas Papandreou, and, lastly, the era of Andreas Papandreou.
Speaking about the book will be Sotiris Rizas, Director of Research at the Research Centre for the Study of Modern Greek History of the Academy of Athens. The event will be moderated by journalist Giannis N. Baskozos.
