Commitment to Quality

1. CEA

The Hellenic American Union’s Center for Applied Linguistics and Language Studies (CALLS) is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CAE) for the period August 2015 through August 2024 and agrees to uphold the CEA standards for English Language Programs and Institutions. CEA is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency for English language programs and institutions in the U.S..

The Commission has accredited the Hellenic American Union CALLS for the following programs:

The Hellenic American Union is one of over 250 worldwide organizations—and the only one in Greece—whose foreign language and teacher training programs are accredited by the CEA. The three Hellenic American Union programs were first accredited by CEA in 2009.

In earning accreditation for its programs, the Hellenic American Union joins the ranks of institutions such as Boston University, Georgetown University, and the University of Pennsylvania whose English-language programs have been similarly accredited.

CEA Accreditation Standards

The Commission on English Language Program Accreditation uses accreditation standards that offer an objective means to evaluate the quality of programs offered. These 52 quality standards cover areas such as:

  • Mission
  • Curriculum
  • Faculty
  • Facilities, Equipment, and Supplies
  • Administrative and Fiscal Capacity
  • Student Services
  • Recruiting
  • Length and Structure of the Program of Study
  • Student Achievement
  • Student Complaints

After a rigorous review of an applying institution's processes and program content, CEA may accredit and make public those programs that meet these standards. The grant of accreditation acknowledges the high quality of English-language or other language-related programs, such as foreign language teacher training and foreign language courses, that a school offers.

2. ISO-9001:2015 Certified

The Center for Applied Linguistics and Language Studies (CALLS) of the Hellenic American Union is ISO-9001:2015 Certified.

International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an international agency which brings together experts who, together, develop consensus-based and market relevant international standards that support innovation and provide solutions to global challenges.

ISO-9001 is a standard that sets out the requirements for a quality management system. In an educational setting it helps schools to be more efficient and improve student satisfaction.

The certification covers both parts of CALLS, the English Language Program (ELP) and the Modern Greek Language Program (MGLP).

An ISO inspection of our language programs complies with our commitment to academic quality and our philosophy of continual improvement, and guarantees the public that no deviation from our high educational standards will occur.

Moreover, measuring on a regular basis the educational quality we offer motivates us to optimize processes for more efficient student services, and to adapt to novel challenges of language education by incorporating cutting-edge educational methodologies and technologies.
