Ban on Cambridge English candidates bringing mobile phones or any other electronic devices into examinations rooms
As of January 2016, candidates participating in Cambridge English examinations are not permitted to take their mobile phones or any other electronic devices into the examination room or the speaking test and have access to such items during breaks.
Electronic devices include sound recorders, smart watches, cameras, iPods, iPads, e-readers, laptops, and any other devices on which notes could be accessed, data received or transmitted during an examination session.
This decision has been made by Cambridge Assessment English taking into account the growing threat of mobile technology and prevailing policy of other examination boards around the world.
Any candidates participating in Cambridge English examinations found with mobile phones or other electronic devices in their possession in an examination room will be disqualified and will not receive a result.
The Hellenic American Union already complies with this regulation. Candidates participating in Cambridge English examinations administered by the Hellenic American Union are not permitted to take with them in the examination rooms and speaking tests mobile phones or any other electronic devices. Candidates are strongly advised to leave such items behind and not bring it to examination centers; the Hellenic American Union bears no responsibility for loss or damage of such items in examination centers.
