Updates in the ECCE and ECPE as of May 2021

In its efforts to maintain high quality standards in all the examinations it develops, Michigan Language Assessment has announced updates in the ECCE and ECPE which will come into effect as of May 2021.

The updates reflect feedback from exams stakeholders (language-school owners, teachers, and test takers), changes to the test-taker population (age, interests, etc), and new thinking in language assessment.

Updates are as follows:

ECCE

ECPE

  • Listening part 2 played twice
  • Reduction in the total number of items
  • Updated writing task
  • New listening parts 1 & 2
  • Listening part 3 played twice
  • Reduction in the total number of items
  • New writing task with more time to write and new scoring criteria

In 2020, Michigan Language Assessment will release the following for its stakeholders:

  • new item samples and specifications regarding the updates (January);
  • a full-length ECCE sample test (May);
  • a full-length ECPE sample test (August).
