Karakitsou Anastasia

Anastasia has worked as a teacher of English as a Foreign Language (2012-2016), an Admissions assistant (2018-2019) and as a teacher of Modern Greek as a Foreign Language since 2018. She has been volunteering as an EN>GR translator and proofreader of concepts in Intercultural Dialogue for the website https://centerforinterculturaldialogue.org/ since 2017.

Her fields of interest include sociolinguistics and applied linguistics, especially the relation between language and power (e.g. in mass media discourse), language and culture, and language and identity. She is also interested in intercultural communication and education, multilingualism, and translation.

Anastasia has been a lead participant for the research project “Critical cosmopolitanism in participant dialogue: grappling with essentialism, negotiating difference and resisting closure” managed by the University of Leeds and the University of Guanajuato, Mexico ('Language and Intercultural Communication' journal, Vol. 19, pp. 541-554). She has also worked as a research assistant for the project “The performance of swimming: disorder, difference and marginality within a publicly-accessible pool” ('Language and Intercultural Communication' journal, Vol. 19, pp. 64-76).
