General and Specialized Translation: Second Year
You learn to work both individually and collectively towards producing translations at a professional level. You are also taught methods of analyzing the source-language text and techniques, which will help you deal with the translation difficulties arising from factors such as the readership, the publication and the deadline for delivering your translation.
During the course you are required to translate authentic texts of both a general and a specialized content from various fields such as:
- Business
- Medicine
- Physics
- Law
- Literature
- Social Science and Humanities
- Technology
- Philosophy
Assessment Method
Your final grade is derived from the grades you have received during your participation in the second-year course in:
- Three written tests
- Class participation
- Delivery of two translation projects at a professional level
Opportunity to further your studies
Upon successful completion of the second year (TR2), you are qualified to join the professional translation community. If you wish to continue your studies, you may attend a preparatory course for the Institute of Linguists examination for the internationally recognized Diploma in Translation.
