A 3D digital virtual tour is now available for the exhibition GAK-ART: Recountings & Readings, which the Hellenic American Union organized in 2021 in collaboration with the Hellenic Foundation for Culture and the General State Archives (GSA) as part of the bicentennial celebrations of the Greek War of Independence. The exhibition was hosted in the HAU Galleries from October 18 – December 18, 2021.
The exhibition presented work from 28 contemporary artists who drew inspiration from material in the GSA that recounts key moments of the Greek War of Independence and cast light on the Revolution’s iconic figures and unsung heroes. The artists’ works were especially created for the exhibition, each based on a different item of archival material, which was also on display alongside the original artwork.
If you were unable to visit the exhibition in person or would like to revisit it, this virtual tour will enable you to browse the galleries of the exhibition, view the pieces on display and read background information on them. You can also watch videos of the artists talking about their work and creative process.
