The Hellenic American Union presents the exhibition “I, Andreas Voutsinas”, a historical retrospective on the life and work of the distinguished stage director, actor, and theater teacher
Marking fifteen years since his passing, the exhibition—held under the auspices and with the support of the Hellenic Parliament—seeks to illuminate the exuberant personality and multifaceted creative journey of a man who left an indelible mark on Greek and international theater. The exhibition is curated by Iris Kritikou, Stamatis Gkikas, and Marios-Angelos Voutsinas.
At the Kennedy Gallery, visitors explore the life of Andreas Voutsinas through personal memorabilia, letters, collectible objects, and twenty-five emblematic portraits created by artists and friends such as Yannis Tsarouchis, Lila de Nobili, and Alekos Fassianos. The exhibition also reveals an extraordinary network of relationships with 50 international figures of theater and cinema—from Lee Strasberg and Elia Kazan to Marilyn Monroe and Federico Fellini—who were closely connected to him.
The Hadjikyriakos-Ghikas Gallery focuses on Voutsinas’s theatrical work, presenting set designs, models, photographs, and programs from landmark productions staged in Greece and abroad. More than 180 theater projects—from the Actors Studio and Théâtre de Cinquante to the stages of Athens and Epidaurus—highlight Andreas Voutsinas as a teacher, director, and mentor to generations of actors. The exhibition is accompanied by a collectible monographic newspaper, featuring archival material and essays about Voutsinas, printed by the Hellenic Parliament Press.
A series of parallel events, screenings, and guided tours will complement the exhibition.
The detailed program will be announced soon.
