Eyes of Hope in Drama
An exhibition of photographs depicting immigrants from Greece and elsewhere who lived in America at the beginning of the previous century...
The photographs, which are presented as part of the parallel events of the 29th National and 12th International Short Film Festival of Drama, have been exhibited at the Hellenic American Union galleries, as well as the San Francisco City Hall and Public Library. Trying to track down their origin, Steefenie Wicks, an American photographer, discovered after years of research a Greek photographer named Leon Pantoti, who took pictures of immigrants in his San Francisco studio from 1914 to 1922.
