At the Edge of Archaelogical Sites
Exhibition by Melinna Kaminari in Elefsina, with photographic narrations and interviews taken at the areas that define the limits between archaeological sites and the modern cities of Athens and Elefsina…
The Hellenic American Union, in cooperation with the Cultural Organization of the Municipality of Elefsina, presents a research project conducted by Melinna Kaminari over a period of about 5 years (2003-2008) at the edge of archaeological sites. The ancient city meets the modern one at the boundary of an archaeological site, a place where one can observe the complexity of urban life. The exhibition focuses on the way archaeological sites in Athens and Elefsina are demarcated, protected and preserved by the state, but also on how Greeks today encounter these sites, and treat the remains of their past.
