Song and Film Music

Feb 18, 2010

Lecture in English by composer and musicologist Christos Mitsakis and a concert featuring songs from film music with Margarita Sygeniotou and Andreas Zafiropoulos...

Christos Mitsakis

In his lecture on “Song and Film Music", composer and musicologist Christos Mitsakis explores the role of song in film music: as accompaniment, as a narrative device or means for furthering the development of the dramatic element, as an occasion for musical virtuosity, or as music inspired by the film.

A concert with songs from the cinema for voice and piano follows at 20:30. Margarita Sygeniotou (voice) and Andreas Zafiropoulos (piano) will perform songs from the films such as My Fair Lady, Wizard of Oz, Evita, Lion King, The Way We Were, and West Side Story.

This event has been organized in cooperation with the Greek Composers’ Union and the Hellenic American University.
