From Science Fiction to Reality
A two-day-event with special guests Stelarc and Bruce Sterling where we examine the relation between the human body and technology as a medium of artistic creation and experimentation...
On the first day, a panel discussion takes place with Professor Michalis Meimaris, author Bruce Sterling, the new media curator, Anna Hatziyiannaki, artist-performer Stelarc, and the astrophysicist Dionysis Simopoulos. On the second day, Stelarc presents his audiovisual work.
The Greek-Cypriot Australian performer Stelarc has attempted to expand the limits of the human body since the end of 1960. In his performances he has connected the human body with the Internet. The American science-fiction writer Bruce Sterling is a leading personality in the cyberpunk movement in literature, and a theorist of cyberspace. The art historian Anna Hatziyiannaki is the curator of the two-day-event.
