Yiannis Kiourtsakis has written many studies and essays on Seferis, tradition, folk culture, the carnival and Karaghiozis shadow puppet theatre. In October 2007, he completed his novel trilogy To Idio kai to Allo (The Same and the Other), with the publication of his book To vivlio tou ergou kai tou chronou (The Book of Work and Time). His trilogy started with San Mithistorema (Like a Novel, 1995, honored with the Award for Best Novel from Diavazo journal) and continued in 2000 with Emeis oi Alloi (We the Others). The approach of this trilogy in terms of the art of novel is the subject of Proguidis’ lecture “Individuality and Creativity in Yiannis Kiourtsakis’ Work”. Lakis Proguidis is a literature critic, essayist and director of the internationally renowned French-language journal L’ Atelier du roman, where many authors like Milan Kundera, Günder Grass, Saul Bellow, Philip Roth, etc. have published their articles.
