Poetic encounters: “Words (can) do it”
A journey through the ancient lyric poetry with translator Yannis Dallas…
In the last poetic encounter of this period, Yannis Dallas, poet, neo-Hellenist and translator of ancient literature, will introduce us to the ancient Greek lyric poets’ work that he has translated and will read the original poems. Translations of the poems will be read by Panayotis Ioannidis.
As a translator of ancient Greek poetry –from the Ancient until the Alexandrian era-, Yannis Dallas has published translations of poems by ancient lyricists (in four volumes: “Choral Lyric”, “Melic”, “Elegiac”, “Iambic”) of “Epigrams”, Callimachus, “Ancient Greek folk poems”, and “Attic sympotic poems”.
