Jan 20, 2014

The Book “The Greek Factor” by Yorgo Chatzimarkakis (Patakis Editions) addresses the political and social state of affairs in Greece and Europe. The presentation will take place on Monday January 20th 2014, at 19:00 in the Theatre of Hellenic American Union (22, Massalias str., Kolonaki).

Book cover

The book entitled The Greek Factor addresses the political and social state of affairs in Greece and Europe.  It discusses the social and economic impact of the crisis by taking a rather different approach. It aims to show that Greeks are not the only responsible for the European crisis and explains to all those who restrict themselves to the superficial label of “bankrupt Greeks” that they are unaware of the Greece's rich history and fail to see its potential.
Greece can play a key role in the reconstruction of the European edifice. The book describes a way for society to make a new start and presents a restructuring program at the level of values and substance. It is not a political textbook for technocrats but rather formulates a political proposal on the basis of five virtues, namely "self-sufficiency", "welfare", "freedom", "democracy" and “solidarity”, destined to support the value of the Citizen.
The book will be presented by:  Nikitas Kaklamanis, MP for New Democracy, Panagiotis Gennimatas, Honorary Vice Chairman of the European Investment Bank, Zeta Theodorakopoulou, student of sociology and the author. Moderator: Leonidas- Phoebus Koskos (President Hellenic American University). An open discussion will follow.
