Magic & Disenchantment
The magic of painting as an antidote to the disenchantment of the world, featured in a group painting exhibition at the Hellenic American Union …
When sociologists like Max Weber talk about the disenchantment (Entzauberung) of the world, artists respond with the reinstatement of magic in modern art. When so many people around the world are suffering the loss of their material possessions, imagination comes back into their lives and art has a chance to enthrall them all over again. The twelve Greek artists presenting their work in this exhibition dare to speak up with their work about the magic of life and its fairy tale—or its myth—and join forces to prove that now is the time when art can rediscover its long lost mystique.
Participating artists: Dimitris Anastasiou, Nikitas Bacharas, Maria Filippakopoulou, Leonidas Giannakopoulos, Theofilos Katsipanos, Marianna Katsoulidi, Giorgos Kavounis, MoKa (Mousiou Katerina), Vasilis Perros, Achilleas Pistonis, Vassilis Selimas and Antonis Tsakiris
Ira Papapostolou is the curator of the exhibition.
