Documentary screening in cooperation with Instituto Cervantes de Atenas and the Cristina Heeren Foundation…

Screening of the documentary film “The Flamenco School of the Cristina Heeren Foundation” at the Hellenic American Union

Rocío Márquez got his much desired freedom. Jerome Segura changed his life. The Korean Na Em found her destination in life. Aniela Mikucka, from Poland, regained the faith that anything can be done. Young people from all over the world come to Seville pursuing a dream: to be part of the flamenco world. In its 20 years of existence, the Cristina Heeren Foundation, a pioneer in the teaching of flamenco, has formed a whole generation of prestigious artists and professionals from all over the world, maintaining the links between teachers and students, between history and future. Prizes, recognitions and, above all, relentless work to spread the seed of this art form beyond the Spanish borders, have made the Foundation an international point of reference for flamenco singers, dancers and guitarists.

When she was young, Cristina Heeren went with her father to a flamenco show in the USA and has since devoted her life to flamenco. 20 years ago, she established the Foundation in Seville that bears her name and she has become the patron of flamenco, enjoying recognition for her efforts throughout the whole of Spain.

The documentary film “The Flamenco School of the Cristina Heeren Foundation” directed by Javier Vila will be screened in Spanish with English subtitles. Duration: 66 minutes.
