2009-2010 National Treasures
The final stage of the 2009-2010 National Treasures Essay Contest was held on Saturday, April 17, at the Hellenic American Union for the finalists and their relatives and teachers.

The ten finalists then took part in the final stage of the contest writing an essay on the following topic, prompt and task:
The New Acropolis Museum
Reporting from Athens
The new Acropolis Museum is very simple and elegant in design because its goal is to focus the visitor’s mind and emotion on the great works of art. Natural daylight, which floods the museum, highlights the harmony of ancient Greek sculpture. The new Acropolis Museum is proof that Greece has a safe place for the Parthenon sculptures, currently at the British Museum in London.
People visit museums for different reasons. Some visit them to learn since museums are places that offer learning experiences. Others visit them for enjoyment since museums are a great way to spend time with friends and family. In your opinion, what is the role of museums in modern society?
While candidates were writing the final essays, their parents/guardians, school owners and local officials attend a small reception with coffee and refreshments. When the final stage was over the candidates and the other guests attended a presentation on Essay Writing and Writing for the Exams followed by an open discussion on exam essay writing issues.
All participants visited the Hellenic American University Writing Center and guests were given a tour of the Comicdom Con Athens exhibition at the Hellenic American Union galleries.
The day ended with lunch at the Hellenic American Union, a brief farewell speech by the organizers and the participants’ departure.
