2010-2011 Protecting our Water, Saving our Planet
The final stage of the 2010-2011 Protecting our Water, Saving our Planet Essay Contest was held on Saturday, April 2, at the Hellenic American Union for the finalists and their relatives and teachers.
The finalist candidates for the 2010-2011 Essay Contest, their relatives and teachers were welcomed at the Hellenic American Union.
The ten finalists then took part in the final stage of the contest writing an essay on the following topic, prompt and task:

Recent studies have shown that the quality of the water in a great number of rivers and lakes is getting worse every year. Based on these studies, some local city officials suggested yesterday that consumers should consider switching to bottled water for their drinking needs.
Sales of bottled water worldwide have increased in recent years because people believe it is pure and safe. Do you agree with increased bottled water consumption or do you feel that consuming tap water may be safer in protecting our environment? State your reasons giving examples to support your view.
While the ten finalists were writing the final essays, their teachers and relatives participated in an open discussion with members of the Hellenic American Union Examinations Department.
When the final stage was over the candidates and the other guests were given a tour of the photography exhibition Athens Within led by the photographer Stelios Efstathopoulos at the Hellenic American Union galleries.
The event ended with lunch for all participants at the Hellenic American Union.
