2013-2014 Cycling in the city: Switching to sustainable means of transport
The final stage of the 2013-2014 "Cycling in the city: Switching to sustainable means of transport " Essay Contest was held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Hellenic American Union for the finalists and their relatives and teachers.
Τhe Hellenic American Union welcomed the finalists of the 2013-2014 Essay Contest, and their relatives and teachers. After a brief welcome note, John Petropoulos, Coordinator of International Relations at the Hellenic American Union Center for Examinations and Certifications, gave a brief presentation on the history, concept and objectives of the Essay Contest project.
After the presentation the ten finalists took part in the final stage of the contest and wrote an essay on the following topic, prompt and task:

During a press conference organized at the Town Hall yesterday, local authorities announced that three main roads of the city will be turned to pedestrian zones by the end of the year. The decision was taken to make it easier for the people living in the city to safely shop and take walks around the city center. The authorities also announced that more roads in the city center will turn to pedestrian zones in the future.

While the ten finalists were writing the final round essays, their teachers and relatives talked about various educational issues with staff of the Hellenic American Union Center for Examinations and Certifications.
When the final stage writing event was over the candidates and the other guests visited the “Celebrating the 9th Art” exhibition at the ComicdomCon Athens festival which was co-organized by the Hellenic American Union and Comicdom Press and held for the ninth consecutive year at the HAU. ComicdomCon Athens, the only Greek festival devoted exclusively to comics, featured discussions, screenings and various workshops.
The event ended with lunch for participants at the Hellenic American Union.
