How relevant is 1821?

Talk

Hellenic American Union Theater

Open Forum in Celebration of the Bicentennial of the Greek Revolution

How does the Greek War of Independence relate to modern forms of artistic expression, most particularly to film? What is its place in a diverse ethnocultural environment? Invited speakers will discuss and attempt to give answers to such and related questions.

The event is being organized following the publication of the e-book 1821 | Fragments, a partnership of a8iNEA, historistai, and the Hellenic American Union, and the authors’ production of a virtual walk titled “Traces of 1821 around Athens”. The thematic route follows traces of the Revolution that the authors identified during their walks around Athens. The e-map will be presented during the event and will be available free of charge on the Hellenic American Union website.
