Exhibition

-
Hellenic American Union Galleries

Solo art exhibition by renowned artist Zoe Keramea, curated by art historian Louisa Karapidaki.

Paper as an enfolded surface is a dominant material in Zoe Keramea’s work. She uses it to print on it; to draw on it with graphite or India ink; she folds it to construct three-dimensional modular units, which she then sews together to compose large and small sculptures made of paper; she cuts it with scissors or an X-Acto knife.

Zoe Keramea’s new exhibition at the Hellenic American Union features collectable artist’s books and games, as well as the original works from which they emerged. Among them is the collectable book Mutation-2021, which consists of 21 drawings created during the pandemic and is presented to the public for the very first time. It is one of Zoe Keramea’s collectable books that are included in the Archives, Library, and Research Collections of The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York. Her book Alphabet-2001 was presented in 2012, as part of the Artists’ Alphabet exhibition, at The Museum of Modern Art in New York.

A series of parallel events and guided tours will be organized as part of the exhibition.
