In for a theatrical play? Border lines

Eleni Papadaki Stage, Rex Theatre

People struggling to survive in a collapsing world facing adversities that make them walk a tightrope along a border line…that’s what the play’s plot is all about! On Saturday, January 20th at 20:00 our adolescents met at Eleni Papadaki Stage of the Rex Theatre to see Chris Cooper's characters, fugitives from the horrors of war, desperately seeking refuge in the hope that a better life can blossom amidst the ruins.

This production was the culmination of a new collaboration between the National Theatre of Greece and UNICEF, as part of the "Theatre for peace" educational programme. For the Hellenic American Union, the initiative formed part of the activities of our ‘Ecofans’ club and aimed at sensitizing our students to the harsh reality of immigration. The tickets for our adolescent students were free of charge.

"I regard theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being."

Oscar Wilde (1854 – 1900)
