The annual series of lectures by the renowned theoretician of photography, Platon Rivellis, continues for the 16th consecutive year.
This year, the theme of the lectures is nostalgia.
During the lectures, which this year take place online, Platon Rivellis will use excerpts from films by famous directors and examples of work by renowned photographers as well as by members of the “Photography Circle” to analyze the notion of “nostalgia” and provide a starting point for further exploring their oeuvre.
Platon Rivellis notes:
" The word "nostalgia" is charged with sadness, joy and tenderness, all at the same time—as are our most treasured memories. And I believe that it is precisely this combination that renders the work of certain film directors or photographers so very appealing and precious (at least to me)... "
The lectures take place online through the web platform Zoom and cover a total of ten hours spanned in 5 days, beginning on Wednesday, September 29th and following on Wednesdays on October 6, 13, 20, and 27, 2021, from 20:00 to 22:00.
