The successful comics festival returns for its 15th anniversary with a full program of events
Comic fans, save the date! Athens’ favorite—and sorely missed--comics festival returns September 10-12, 2021, for a three-day, event-packed celebration of the 9th art.
Comicdom Con Athens will be hosted at two venues. The festival’s international exhibitions, this year starring the Smurfs, will be held at the Hellenic American Union. The history of Peyo’s tiny blue heroes—and their environmental concerns—will be brought to light in the HAU’s Hadjikyriakos-Ghikas Gallery. The Kennedy Gallery will host an exhibition on the development of Czech comics and the work of contemporary Czech comic book artists. Rounding off the exhibitions are panels, workshops, screenings and other events, all organized in compliance with the current public health protocols.
At Klafthmonos Square, in the safety of the outdoors, comics shops and publishers, along with almost 100 comic book artists, will welcome afficionados of the 9th art with merchandise and long-awaited new -and older- publications.
