16 contemporary artists draw inspiration from Iakovos Kambanellis’s work and contribution to the arts and letters.

As part of the “Iakovos Kambanellis Literary Year 2022,” the Hellenic Foundation for Culture and the Hellenic American Union present the visual arts exhibition “Iakovos Kabanellis, the Tetraptych”: Theater, Cinema, Poetry, Prose. Curated by art historian and archaeologist Louisa Karapidaki, the exhibition opens its doors to the public on Monday, September 19, 2022, at 19:30, and will last until October 19, 2022.

Kambanellis’s creative output included numerous works of theater, poetry, prose, and films. This exhibition explores the renowned artist’s legacy in these four domains through paintings by contemporary artists that interrogate values he celebrated in his work, namely, human rights, freedom, optimism, and love.

The exhibition also features showbills of Kambanellis’s theatrical plays and films, drawn from his rich personal archive, courtesy of his daughter, Katerina Kambanelli.

Over the course of the exhibition, curator Louisa Karapidaki will be offering guided tours to the public. Dates for upcoming tours will be announced on the Hellenic American Union website.
