Legendary Filmmakers – Iconic American Films: Chaplin και Keaton

Presentation

Hellenic American Union Theater

The Hellenic American Union continues the series “Legendary Filmmakers – Iconic American Films" with a tribute to Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton

Among the most important directors in the history not only of American cinema but also of world cinema, in the era before sound had entered the 7th Art, Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton laid the foundations of film comedy, achieved great success, were adored by millions, and continue, in their own way, to remain relevant. Rivals but not enemies in their time, they became famous through different styles of cinematic comedy. Chaplin with films such as "The Kid", "The Circus", "City Lights", and many others. Keaton with "The General", "The Navigator", "The Lucky", and many others.

During the event, scenes from films by both directors will be screened, followed by a discussion about them and their work with the audience.

Speakers will include film critic of Athenorama magazine, Christos Mitsis, film critic and journalist Giannis Zouboulakis, and journalist-author Makis Provatas, who will moderate the discussion.
