Greek animation celebration night

The Hellenic American Union, in collaboration with the Hellenic Animation Association ASIFA Hellas, presents the biggest animation event of the year on Saturday, March 30, at 18:00, featuring the annual "STRATOS" Awards (named after Stratos Stasinos). The evening celebrates the best Greek animated films of the year, selected from submissions to Greek animation festivals as well as open calls by ASIFA Hellas. The hosts of the night will be Fenia Apostolou and Panos Boras.

The 2024 Animation Award categories are:

- Best Animation Film
- Best Student Animation Film
- Best Direction in an Animation Film
- Best Screenplay for an Animation Film
- Best Animation Series (TV Series, Web Series)
- Best Music Video Animation
- Best Commissioned Animation Film (TVC, Digital Content, etc.)

The "STRATOS" Awards are dedicated to the memory of the great Greek director and animator Stratos Stasinos. Born in 1945 in Grammnitsa, Arta, Stasinos studied animation and film at the École C.T.F. Gobelins in Paris. He worked in drawing, animation, directing, and teaching, and was a founding member of the European Association of Animated Film (CARTOON), actively participating in its events across various European countries, including FORUM CARTOON and CARTOON MOOVIE. In 1985, as artistic director, he organized the International Week of Animated Film in Athens, as part of the first European Capital of Culture. Stratos Stasinos passed away in Athens in 2009, leaving a lasting legacy in Greek animation.
