Education on Peace and Human Rights: Theory and Practice

Symposium

-
Hellenic American Union Theater

Dr. Maria Hantzopoulos, Associate Professor of Education at Vassar College, keynote speaker at a Conference on Peace and Human Rights Education

Today more than ever, it is essential to educate ourselves and children on issues of Peace and Human Rights. In today’s increasingly divided world, the ability to coexist is becoming ever more important. Intolerance and the rise of populism are leading to divisions within societies. History has shown that such tensions can escalate into violent conflict. However, empathy and compassion for others can be taught and cultivated. Education is the key.

All of the above will be explored during this conference, which includes an open discussion and an interactive workshop. It is addressed to educators, cultural mediators, staff of educational programs in NGOs, and professionals working in psychosocial services.
