We’re celebrating Halloween again this year at the Hellenic American Union with a screening of the classic horror parody "Young Frankenstein"
The HAU Movie Club of the Hellenic American Union, in collaboration with Mooviereel, celebrates Halloween with the classic, unforgettable horror parody by Mel Brooks, "Young Frankenstein" (1974). Starring Gene Wilder, Mel Brooks, Peter Boyle, and Teri Garr.
Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder wrote the screenplay, drawing inspiration from Mary Shelley’s classic Gothic horror story "Frankenstein", as well as from the first three Frankenstein films by Universal Pictures, thus creating one of the greatest comedies of all time.
The grandson of the infamous scientist Dr. Frankenstein, who struggles to prove that his grandfather was not as crazy as people think, is invited to Transylvania, where he discovers the process of bringing a dead body back to life. This leads to hilariously absurd results.
The film was nominated for 2 Oscars: Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Sound.
We look forward to throwing streamers during the opening and closing credits of the film, with extra bonus points if you come dressed as the classic monsters of Universal Pictures!
