HAU Movie Club: Night Moves (1975)

Screening

Hellenic American Union Theater

The Hellenic American Union’s Movie Club pays tribute to Gene Hackman with a screening of the 1975 neo-noir thriller Night Moves on Thursday, November 20, at 19:00

This classic film by director Arthur Penn—best known for Bonnie and Clyde—plunges us into the paranoid 1970s, following a tough private investigator on his search for the missing teenage daughter of an actress. His investigation takes him from Hollywood to the Florida Keys, where he becomes entangled in a decaying family drama and a conspiracy that proves almost impossible to grasp.

With Penn’s moody direction, Alan Sharp’s subversive screenplay, and Gene Hackman delivering one of the finest performances of his career, Night Moves stands as one of the key works of post-Watergate American cinema.
The film also marks the notable debut of Melanie Griffith in the role of the missing daughter.
