The Peloponnisos International Documentary Festival comes to the heart of the city with a dynamic three-day event full of screenings for audiences of all ages
The afternoon and evening program features 10 award-winning documentaries, nine of which will be screened in Athens for the first time. The films focus on pressing contemporary issues, with thematic axes including equality, solidarity, and the environment, highlighting stories that inspire reflection, empathy, and dialogue.
The screenings are accompanied by three internationally acclaimed filmmakers: Eylem Kaftan, whose work combines social research with personal storytelling; Abdullah Harun Ilhan, who explores the human experience through geopolitical contexts; and Belgian filmmaker Ruud De Keyser, distinguished for his insightful cinematic perspective on contemporary European documentary. Their presence offers the audience a unique opportunity to engage directly with their creative vision.
A special place in the program is given to the Festival’s educational dimension, featuring dedicated student screenings and activities designed to cultivate critical thinking and artistic expression. A highlight is the innovative program “Film Music Scoring,” where the award-winning documentary Daniel by Pavlos Vissariou is presented with live, original music composed and performed by students of the Tripoli Music School, offering a unique collaboration between cinema and young creative talent.
