This new walk is part of the series of Athenian routes organized by the Hellenic American Union, aiming to introduce us to different facets of central Athens. We will meet at the Literature House bookstore (67 Ioannou Drosopoulou Street), from where we will walk, take photographs, and engage in discussion, focusing on Amerikis Square and the urban palimpsest of one of Athens’ most densely layered and fascinating neighborhoods.
As we explore the streets below Amerikis Square, we will extend our walk to the surrounding roads and gain a deeper understanding of the area’s development throughout the 20th century up to the present day.
