Our (pre-)Kindergarten students said goodbye to the school year they left behind and welcomed the summer lying ahead with their favourite fairy tale, The very hungry caterpillar by Eric Carle; a story that happened once upon a time, but not too far away.
As the story goes, the moon shone brightly in the sky and a tiny egg lay on a big green leaf. In the morning, the sun came out and as the egg bathed in the sunlight, a green caterpillar came out and went for a stroll in the big forest. After coming out of the little egg, he felt soooooo hungry. He had a feast, but it seemed that he couldn’t get enough; no matter how much he ate, he was still hungry. As the days went by, he had tons of food, fruit, and sweets until he got a terrible stomachache. He went to sleep it off in his soft cocoon. Then, one day, the cocoon opened, but instead of the caterpillar, a colourful butterfly came out! He was finally ready for a perfect summer journey in the garden, in the woods, on the mountain, at the beach, by the seaside! Twice as ready were the children for their own summer adventures, filled with ice cream (what else?)!
At the end of the show, our young students put on their mortarboards and celebrated their graduation from (pre-)Kindergarten, looking forward to the summer. See you all in September! In the meantime, have a blast!
